Formula 3, like Formula 1, had the Belgian Grand Prix on the agenda, with the drivers completing a classic sprint on Saturday and the main race currently underway. And in both cases, Roman Stanek excelled at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, taking second place and a podium finish!

The Belgian Grand Prix was the seventh event of the season for Formula 3, with two more races on the schedule for the junior series, in the Netherlands and at Monza in Italy.

On Saturday, however, the drivers took part in the traditional sprint race, in which Stanek came in second place and took the podium. And today, Sunday 28 August, F3 had the main race on the agenda.

Caio Collet started the race from pole position and was joined on the front row by Zane Maloney. The second row on the starting grid belonged to Pizzi and Goeth, with the Czech racer Stanek in fifth place.

The Belgian Grand Prix offered a great duel for the first place after the start itself, when Maloney tried to get to the first place in front of Collet, but both of them went off the track at the Les Combes corner.

Maloney did get ahead of Collet for the top spot, but then had to give it back to him as he moved to the front of the race by going off the track. Both were then passed by Oliver Goethe and Maloney dropped to third.

A chaotic first lap then brought contact between Maini and Pizzi, whereupon yellow flags waved for the first time on the circuit.

Fans were treated to a restart of the Belgian Formula 3 Grand Prix on lap six. Collet and Maloney got back in front of Goethe just then. Shortly afterwards, however, the safety car was back on track as a result of Grégoire Saucy’s accident.

After the second restart, Maloney took the lead of the race ahead of Collet, with Stanek also climbing up the order. The Czech racer worked his way up to third on lap 7 and it wasn’t until five laps to go that Stanek moved into second ahead of Collet after a great battle.

Staněk was unable to close the gap on the race leader by the end of the race, but it was still an amazing result! It should be added that on the last 18th lap there was still an interesting duel for third place between Goeth and Oliver Bearman.

And the winner of this duel was the latter. In the attached twitter post below you can see the final podium.

For Roman, this is his most successful race weekend so far this season, right after his victory at the Imola circuit. Stanek also took second place in Barcelona. He is fifth in the drivers’ championship so far with 96 points.

Arthur Leclerc is ahead of him in fourth place with 101 points. Third is Victor Martins (104 points), second is Bearman (105 points) and the championship leader is Isack Hadjar (106 points). Stanek is still in contention for the title.
