Do you remember the Dutch coach Alex Pastoor, who led Slavia Prague in 2014? Now he leads the Dutch team Almere, with whom he celebrated a huge success last month.

Alex Pastoor has remained in the memory of Czech fans even though he has only been in the Czech Republic for a few months. He lost eight of his fourteen matches on the bench of Slavia and finished just above the relegation zone. The Sešiovans managed to save a single point.

He subsequently left the club to return to the Netherlands, where he gained experience alongside the legendary Marco van Basten, serving as his assistant.

He subsequently served as head coach on the Sparta Rotterdam bench. In the second year of his engagement, he won the championship title and managed to lead the club to the first league.

Despite a one-year stopover in Austria, he has now returned to his home country, where he once again sat on the bench of the second division club. Specifically, Almere City. His engagement turned out to be a very good move, as Pastoor and his charges managed to immediately break into the top teams of the Netherlands.

Almere did not score a lot of goals during the season, but they were able to rely on their defence. Their defense was the second best in the league.

They finished third in the league and had to fight for promotion in the relegation playoffs. However, they didn’t get off to the best start, but they made up for their first game in the rematch.

In the semi-final play-off match, they celebrated their promotion after a penalty shoot-out and in the final double-header they secured their promotion after beating FC Emmen in both matches, who thus said goodbye to the first league.

Pastoor celebrated a tremendous success and can look forward to the next edition in which they will face the best clubs in the Netherlands.
