Things have been quite heated within the UFC’s welterweight division in recent days. With his announcement of a serious injury and title vacancy, Jamahal Hill generated a lot of media hype, which included his original opponent for the division title.
That was to be former champion Jiri Prochazka, who like Hill, had relinquished his title in the biggest MMA organization in the world. At least that was the promise he received from UFC boss Dana White when he announced his shoulder injury.
Only then a post from the organization itself scared fans. The latter in fact promoted the next numbered UFC 291 event as a gala where fans would see two title fights, one of which was supposed to be just within the division between Jan Blachowicz and Alex Pereira.
However, Prochazka’s coach Martin Karaivanov did reassure the fans of the Czech samurai. In fact, he shared a cryptic post on his Twitter account hinting at good news.
“There is a lot of speculation, but let’s all be calm, everything is resolved and everything will be announced,” he hinted that the UFC management will keep their promise after all. “It will be a pleasure,” he added positively.
Karaivanov announced a few days ago that there are practically two options. Either Prochazka will face the winner of Blachowicz vs. Pereira in November or he will face Magomed Ankalaev in Abu Dhabi in October.
Whatever the outcome, the big comeback is coming and Procházka will indeed get a chance to reclaim his vacant title. Of course, what the fans want most is a battle for Europe with Janko Blachowicz, which would attract a huge number of fans from the old continent. The coming days or weeks will surely tell us more.
