Newcastle’s big star and the future of Swedish football. Alexander Isak has been proving over the last few years that he is indeed an exceptional footballer, and with recent reports in the British media, the question is how long he will last at Newcastle.
Arsenal London have reportedly expressed an interest recently. However, the player himself has not yet commented on the potential transfer.
Moreover, he is currently under contract at the eighth Premier League club until the end of June 2028. Any interested party would also have to come up with a hefty sum of money. Indeed, the reputable website Transfermarkt reports that the Swede’s current market value is €70 million.
But the priority for Newcastle is understandably to keep Isak. The team’s current coach Eddie Howe is aware of his qualities.
“He is an outstanding talent and nobody at the club would want to lose him. He’s just different. If he stays healthy and avoids injuries, he can do really big things,” Howe said of the 24-year-old Swede.
Isak and his phenomenal assists
The Solna native has proven his quality several times. For example, last year, specifically in the Newcastle vs Everton game, when he assisted Murphy’s goal in such a great way.
“I don’t really care. It’s been talked about in several transfer windows. I take it as a normal thing. Everybody knows that something may come up in the summer and it may happen that I will leave, but at the moment I am not thinking about it,” Isak said earlier on the topic of a possible transfer, whose words were also quoted by talkSPORT.
Bruno Guimaraes has then also been linked with a move away from Newcastle. But as far as Isak is concerned, Arsenal were reportedly interested in him back when he was still defending the colours of Real Sociedad. However, could the Swedish forward be heading to the Emirates Stadium after the season?
The Gunners are already starting to think about the summer transfer window. They want to look for a new striker, be it a playmaker or a winger.
