Czech national team midfielder Alex Král is apparently headed to the German Bundesliga. This year’s newcomer, but otherwise traditional Bundesliga participant Schalke has expressed interest in his services. The club from Gelsenkirchen would like to borrow Kral from Spartak Moscow for a year.
On Wednesday, King should undergo a medical examination and if everything goes well, he should travel to Austria for a training camp. According to the German club, only formalities are missing for the deal.
The hairy midfielder should join the club from Gelsenkirchen on a one-year loan without an option. King has taken the opportunity to seek an engagement outside Russia thanks to a rule introduced by FIFA in the wake of the war in Ukraine. His contract at Spartak Moscow runs until 2024.
King was a guest at West Ham last season, where he was a teammate of Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal.
However, he only featured in six matches in the whole season and his engagement was rated as very unsuccessful.
Other German clubs, mainly Leipzig and Hertha Berlin, were also circling around the King. Schalke were interested in another former Slav player Abdallah Sima, but he preferred to go on loan to Angers in France.
For a while there was also speculation about a transfer to Sparta, but that was wrong information. In England, King did not make a name for himself, but the Bundesliga could suit him.
