In the 27th round of the Spanish La Liga, the second-placed teams will face each other. Home side Alaves are second from last with a three-point lead, while away side Sevilla are second in the league and six points behind leaders Real.
Alaves are not in good form at all. Since last November, it has won only once in the league, drawn five times and lost eight times. These poor statistics mean second to last place in the league. They need four points to stay in the league.
On a positive note, they have only lost against Real Madrid in the last three weeks. Before that they managed to beat a strong Valencia 2-1, in their last game they drew with Getafe 2-2.
Sevilla are much better off than Alavés. In their last five games they have won twice and drawn three times. In the league, out of 26 matches, they have won 15, drawn 9 and lost only two. Thanks to this great record, they are only six points behind leaders Real. They are eight points ahead of third place.
The first half may be important for the result. Most of the time, if Alavés assert themselves first, they won’t lose the match. As for the second halves, they usually play in Sevilla’s favour. They have only scored five goals in the second half in the whole competition.
As for the most recent matches between these two teams, they are clearly in favour of the away team. Sevilla are on a three-match unbeaten run against Alavés. They have won two matches and one ended in a draw.
