Ajax at Old Trafford! Manchester United offer 60 million euros for another former player of coach Erik ten Hag
There’s no doubt that Erik ten Hag is in for a major team rebuild. A number of players have already announced their departure, but no one has officially transferred to Manchester United yet. One of the first ones to do so could be winger Antony, who has been giving great performances at Ajax for the last two seasons.
There’s no doubt that Erik ten Hag is in for a major team rebuild. A number of players have already announced their departure, but no one has officially transferred to Manchester United yet. One of the first ones to do so could be winger Antony, who has been giving great performances at Ajax for the last two seasons.
The Dutch coach has a number of great players at Old Trafford such as Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and the recently shining Anthony Elanga. However, their favourite side is the left when it comes to 100% of right-backs.
As far as a left winger is concerned, the Hag can use Amad Diallo, but he is yet to show his qualities in the top team. So it makes sense that the 52-year-old coach is going to bring in a quality player to fit into his system.
Antony thus seems to be a great choice and according to Goal, discussions are already taking place between the clubs. Everything could be resolved in the next few days, according to the information available, with the transfer fee expected to be around €60 million.
Brazilian club Sao Paulo, where he headed to Europe two years ago for less than €16 million, would also be in the running. The latter would be paid €15 million if the transfer goes through, thanks to the contract he signed with Ajax.
Meanwhile, the fast-footed Brazilian has had a very successful season at Ajax, where he and his teammates enjoyed two league titles and one cup victory. With Brazil, he won the Olympic Games, assisting Malcom’s winning goal in the final match against Spain.
In total, Antony played 79 games for Ajax, during which he managed to score 22 times and assisted another 20 goals.
