Freshly crowned welterweight champion Jiri Prochazka already has a challenger
The main draw of the UFC 275 gala between Jiri Procházka and Glover Teixeira is still resonating through the martial arts world, not only in the Czech Republic. In a spectacular war, the Czech samurai finished the Brazilian on a submission with just 28 seconds left in the fight, thus winning the UFC welterweight championship belt.
Although the Moravian fighter told the press conference that he now needs a rest to heal his body and soul after the crazy battle, the media immediately after the fight speculated about his next opponent. But he will certainly have no shortage of challengers.
While the just defeated Teixeira immediately tweeted his conqueror a rematch offer, right in the hall, Polish Jan Blachowicz claimed the fight. The latter lost his championship title to Glover Teixeira last October, but still feels he could be a legitimate challenger to the newly crowned Prochazka.
The Polish Blachowicz confronted him as he left the arena
The legendary Pole stopped him on his way out of the arena and they exchanged a few words. At the post-match press conference, journalists asked him about the moment in question and whether their conversation was friendly or hostile.
“A little friendly and a little hostile,” Procházka replied. “After I told him he was next, he became quite aggressive,” Blachowicz described his emotions.
Procházka blew an unconventional kiss to the Pole as he left the confrontation. “I told him I loved him,” he amused everyone present. “Let’s talk in the cage, ” the champion sent a clear message.
UFC owner Dana White will, of course, have his say on the potential fight. But the aforementioned battle for Europe would be very attractive for fans and the organization itself.
