Jiri Prochazka, the new UFC welterweight champion, answered questions from journalists around the world at a press conference at the UFC. He talked not only about his fight, but also about his future plans.

The Moravian fighter became the first fighter from the Czech Republic to win a title in the most prestigious and best MMA organization in the world when he defeated Glover Teixeira.

The fight offered many heart attack moments, but Jiri Prochazka managed to handle them all and forced his opponent to tap out. But it can’t be said that he was happy with his performance. On the contrary.

“It was a terrible performance on my part. Honestly. You saw the fight, some moments I just survived, but my plan, my attitude in life is to dominate, not to survive. I have to be a hunter, I have to improve that for the next time,” Procházka let himself be heard at the press conference.

The Hostěradice native admitted that Teixeira didn’t surprise him with anything, he didn’t do anything that the new UFC champion didn’t expect, but he did what he did very well.

The Brazilian took to Twitter immediately after the fight to ask for a rematch. However, former champion Jan Blachowicz has also asked for the fight and is looking forward to a potential fight for Europe.

“I don’t care if my next opponent is Glover or Jan. But I swear I will be a completely different fighter in that fight. This was not a good performance on my part,” Procházka is clear.

Currently, he has requested time to celebrate the title and to rest. He also wants time to correct his mistakes from the title fight. By his own admission, he felt physically tired after the fight, and he already knows what mistakes he made.

One of the mistakes he says was not celebrating his last win over Dominick Reyes. So now he plans to celebrate in a big way, he’d even like to celebrate at sea.

Other than that, Walk gave Teixeira some credit for how many punches he took. But at the same time, he sees it as another one of his mistakes. “I need to work on making my punches more lethal,” the Moravian puncher is clear.

According to him, the toughest moment in the fight was when the Brazilian managed to catch the arm-triangle perfectly. “But if I want to win, I have to do anything. Luck? It’s always on your side when you stop thinking and start doing,” he added.

Walk then announced that he wants to rest, but he would like to fight again later this year, so we probably don’t need to worry about not seeing him fight again for maybe a year.
