After losses to both fighters, Viktor Peshta was a laughing stock. But now they will face off in the PFL pyramid final
Viktor Peshta, as a former champion of the Octagon, got into the prestigious American organization PFL. He had two fights there and lost both in the first round. It is completely incomprehensible that instead of support he received a lot of ridicule and criticism. However, both of his opponents made it to the finals of the pyramid.
Viktor Peshta, as a former champion of the Octagon, got into the prestigious American organization PFL. He had two fights there and lost both in the first round. Instead of support, he received a lot of ridicule and criticism. However, both of his opponents made it to the PFL finals.
He was the second Czech fighter in the UFC to become an Octagon champion, and faced some really big challenges in his career. Yet he couldn’t quite win over the Czech audience. This was fully evident after his retirement to the PFL.
Viktor Peshta left for the prestigious American organization this year, where he wanted to fight for a million dollars. However, in his very first fight he stumbled when he was knocked out by Omari Akhmedov in the first round.
There was a lot of talk about what would happen next. After a knockout, it’s common for a fighter not to fight for three months. However, the PFL is a specific league format where the four fighters who accumulate the most points advance to the playoffs.
However, Peshta took a gamble and less than two months after the knockout, he went for another fight. And you could tell his speed wasn’t up to par. Plus, he was obviously shaken up by the first punch. It was another quick loss. This time he was beaten by Rob Wilkinson.
Akhmedov and Wilkinson dominated the league, winning all three of their matches and collecting 11 points. They made it to the playoffs and proved that all the ridicule and criticism that Pest had to endure was out of place.
And they continue to prove it. In the semifinal duels, both fighters succeeded. Akhmedov defeated Josh Silveira on points, Wilkinson knocked out Dylan Monte. They will face each other in the final for the million dollars.
