David Dvorak had his toughest fight in the UFC and unfortunately he didn’t make it. But now he has a chance to make up for the loss and will be challenged by former Rizin champion Manel Kape in the last tournament of the year.

The Czech fighter had a great run before his last fight in the UFC. He had three wins in the best organization in the world, held an overall undefeated streak of 10 years, and so it was only fitting that there was talk of a possible title run.

But Matheus Nicolau was outclassed by David Dvorak and won on points. However, the former Octagon fighter had nothing to be ashamed of, on the contrary. He certainly didn’t lose in any significant way and accepted the loss with great humility and great respect.

Ironically, he also improved his ranking, as he is currently number nine in the flyweight division. He will be facing the division’s number thirteen, but former Rizin champion Manel Kap.

Dvorak will return to action after nine months. Could he be hungrier? “I don’t think so. I’m looking forward to it like every other game before. I want to win and the fact that I lost last time means nothing to me,” he says.

As for his opponent, the UFC reportedly gave Dvorak no choice. So there was no room for negotiation and he’s in for an interesting challenge. It’s worth noting that, like Dvorak, Kape was no match for Nicolau.

“He is a former Rizin champion, he is a very good opponent. He’s great in the stand-up, but I mustn’t underestimate his ground game and focus on just one thing. We have our game ready for him, so we’ll see what he says. It’s another challenge for me and I’m happy to fight such names,” says Dvorak.

The Czech fighter is aware that a win probably won’t move him up the rankings, but it will certainly solidify his position, which also counts.

Dvorak will fly to the United States on December 3 and the fight will take place on December 18 in Las Vegas.
