Champions League
After being knocked out of the LM, he laughed with the opposing star, and got the shit kicked out of him by the fans. How did the Barcelona defender explain his behaviour?
Barcelona are in a huge crisis, even going as far as the second most prestigious club competition for the first time since the 2003/04 season, when they play the Europa League in the spring. The fans are suffering, but some players don’t seem to be worried. Clément Lenglet could be an example. What did he do?

The Catalans lost a high 3-0 in Munich on Wednesday, they didn’t show much in the game, even though Bayern didn’t look like they were perhaps playing at 100% either. Barcelona will thus miss out on the Champions League in the spring, instead spicing up the Europa League.
A great tragedy, new coach and club legend Xavi spared no harsh words after the loss. He was angry, furious, aggressive. He wasn’t alone. So were the fans and some of the players. Unfortunately, not all of them.
Defender Clément Lenglet was caught laughing with one of the opposition’s stars, namely Robert Lewandowski, after the final whistle. The photo has been all over the football world. The French defender was the subject of a wave of criticism.
But would Lenglet apologise for his behaviour? No, he didn’t. He merely explained the situation on his Instagram.
“I’m sad about the result, this club deserves only the best and we couldn’t achieve that. As for the photo, it was a specific reaction that did not reflect my feeling about the result. I was laughing at something that had just happened,” explained the Barcelona defender.
“My values are unquestionable. Anyone who knows me knows about my love for Barcelona and its fans. I would never react like this to something so painful. Our situation worries me. We have a mission with a clear objective, to put Barcelona back where it belongs,” Lenglet added.
However, Lenglet has long been one of the players criticised, so his explanation of the situation did not help matters much.
