The second qualifying match of the Czech national football team is over. While after the first game many fans were already celebrating the qualification and hoping for a good result in the championship, now they are down to earth again. The unnecessary draw was caused by several factors, however, not even coach Jaroslav Šilhavý has a clear conscience.

The Czechs’ performance against Poland was really good. Some fans were soothing the critics of coach Jaroslav Šilhavy, who got another chance on the bench in the form of a new contract.

However, this time it turned out to be more of a shot in the dark. A win over Poland is extremely important towards promotion, but it needs to be confirmed against weaker teams.

And that definitely includes Moldova, which is one of the worst teams in Europe in terms of rankings. Except for the forced changes, the coach sent the same line-up on the field.

He made it clear that he doesn’t want to underestimate anything. However, the performance on the pitch was completely different from the first minutes, it was more the home Moldovans who played, who in turn were nicely pumped up.

They defended well and threatened from counter-attacks, and with luck they could have easily led the match. After a bad first half, almost everyone was waiting for a change in the line-up. However, it incomprehensibly did not come.

The first substitution was not made until the 73rd minute! And this can be considered one of the biggest reasons for Monday’s failure.

You need to react much earlier to such a performance, especially when you have five substitutions. The coach then used the space to change players only once more, in the 82nd minute.

In both games, Václav Černý, who was in form, did not get a chance… The Czechs could not get the ball into the net, only Jan Kuchta managed to do so in the first half after a close offside.

Tomas Soušek from a huge chance hit only the crossbar. All in all, the Czechs deserved the win according to the data. However, they have to crush such an opponent by a few goals.

The current quality of the squad is not due to coach Šilhavy. He has been given the opportunity to coach excellent players and if a not very progressive coach remains on the bench, we will not see more success.
