It’s not an easy time for AC Milan fans. The American owner, RedBird, owned by Gerry Cardinale, recently sacked legend Paolo Maldini as technical director.
Along with him went sporting director Ricky Massara, in the last few dozen hours AC supporters have suffered another blow. The young and very talented Tonali, who was portrayed by the Tifosi as a symbol of AC’s future success, will move to Newcastle.
However, the amount of 70 million euros convinced the American owner to sell, also Tonali will get a significant salary increase. At San Siro he was earning €3.5 million a year, but Newcastle will pay him €8 million, plus two more in bonuses.
Moreover, he may not be the only one to leave the Milan club this summer. The Magpies, according to the Italian media, are not going to stop their hunt in Serie A. They have shown interest in another, even bigger AC star – Theo Hernández.
Transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Newcastle would like to acquire the French international for around €100 million.
After all, this is roughly the price tag set by the AC management. Atlético Madrid are also interested in Theo.
The hunt is not over in Serie A
Besides Tonali, whose transfer is practically a done deal, Di Marzio also mentions Newcastle’s interest in Federico Chiesa.
The latter has almost never fully established himself at Juventus. Aston Villa have also reportedly announced their interest, but Chiesa is not going to a club that only plays in the Conference League.
