With only four rounds left in the league season, the fight for the championship title is at its peak. But it is already clear that AC Milan will play in the Champions League again next season. The Milanese big club wants to invest a lot of money in reinforcements! Which players are the Rossoneri interested in?
The Bahraini firm Investcorp is again a little closer to a total takeover of AC Milan. This is an investment company that, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, is ready to release 300 million euros for summer transfers!
The total amount of the buyout of the eighteen-time Italian league champion is expected to be almost one billion euros.
With new potential owners, the club’s transfer strategy is set to improve significantly. Previously, the Rossoneri have shown interest in several footballers, namely Renato Sanches, Marco Asensio, Steven Bergwijn and Hugo Ekitike.
We have written more about AC’s possible reinforcements before, but now AC Milan’s management is adding more names to this quartet.
It should be noted, the transfer of Sanches seemed to be a done deal already. First, however, Lille postponed the transfer negotiations until the summer transfer window, then his agent Jorge Mendes stepped in. He is demanding six million euros a year for his client’s transfer.
Moreover, the fact remains that due to frequent injuries, Sanches last played on March 12. So, at the moment, it looks like the relatively clear-cut matter will eventually come off, although AC are still interested in the twenty-four-year-old Portuguese.
The Rossoneri have then shown great interest in four strikers. Among the forwards, Divock Origi, Domenico Berardi, Gianluca Scamacca and Sébastien Haller are on the list of possible reinforcements.
Although it was Origi who was very close to signing in the recent past, it currently looks like Berardi could wear the red and black jersey next season. Sassuolo want a sum of around €30 million for their sniper. According to Football Italia, negotiations between the two clubs are already at an advanced stage.
However, based on the latest speculation, AC have already signed a four-year contract with Origi, which should earn the Belgian striker €3.5 million per year.
The other alleged signing is French Lille defender Sven Botman, who is expected to cost the Rossoneri around €30 million.
Among the midfielders, AC are also interested in several names. However, the most notable names are Christopher Nkunku, Nicola Zaniolo and Olympique Lyon talent Maxence Caqueret.
However, the 22-year-old Italian midfielder still has a contract in Rome until the end of June 2024. His future in the Italian capital is in any case uncertain, whereupon negotiations for a new contract have stalled.
In addition, Italian media talk about Zaniolo wanting to become one of the main faces of a successful project, which, incidentally, a transfer to AC would accomplish. So if the Rossoneri are serious about the rising star of Italian football, they have to prepare a sum of around €60 million. That’s how much the Roman club’s management is demanding for Zaniola.
However, based on the latest information, AC has come up with an offer in excess of €40 million, and another giant of Italian football – Juventus Turin – has also entered the battle for Zaniola.
According to RMC Sport, Caqueret, who refused to renew his contract at the French club and will become a free agent in a year’s time, has also been linked with a transfer to AC.
The 22-year-old midfielder has played an absolutely key role at Lyon over the past two years, whereupon the club’s management will almost certainly not want to let him go for free. So will he leave this year? It should be noted, Caqueret would have a well-known former teammate in Milan.
Pierre Kalulu worked with him at Lyon, specifically in their youth teams. Obviously the biggest name on the list, however, is Manchester City star Raheem Sterling.
The English Daily Mirror has come out with the information that the 27-year-old winger is on the transfer list and it is the Rossoneri who are very interested in him.
Thus, AC Milan will try to lure Sterling to participate in the Champions League and the chance to become a key point of the new project. The player himself then postponed negotiations about his future just for the summer, with the English club refusing to sign a contract extension.
It must be added, the Rossoneri need a right winger like salt. Júnior Messias and Alexis Saelemaekers are currently playing in this position. Neither of them, however, have been in dazzling form, especially recently. It is Sterling who could literally rip the imaginary thorn out of AC’s side.
The current Serie A leader is also lacking in the centre of midfield and it is therefore expected that Milan will bring in at least one of the Nkunku – Zaniolo – Caqueret trio in the summer.
However, it is already certain that AC will be one of the most active clubs in the transfer market and it will be very interesting to watch the actions of the potential Italian champion.
