Champions League
AC Milan fans were impressed by the amazing choreo. But that was the only thing we showed, they didn’t understand after the game
The Great Derby della Madonnina in the Champions League semi-final was supposed to be a celebration of football. From AC Milan’s point of view, it also started with a beautiful choreo, but that was perhaps all the home side showed.

There has long been a great rivalry between Inter and AC Milan. At the beginning of the new century, it was the Italian big clubs that had glory in Europe, but then came the decline.
For the next decade, both clubs were in trouble, and AC were worse off, only last season advancing to the Champions League for the first time in a long time.
In this edition, neither Italian side was considered any kind of favourite, but somehow, quietly, both teams made it to the semi-finals.
Since both teams play in the same stadium, they actually play both games at home, just with different fans. AC Milan were the first to have a home environment, with their fans putting on an amazing choreo.
The fans wanted to show the hellish atmosphere that Inter will have at San Siro. In fact, when Inter plays home games, the stand is called Giuseppe Meazza.
But this was AC Milan’s best performance. “At least the choreo was nice. We didn’t transfer anything after that,” wrote a Milan fan. “The choreo was amazing, but that was the only thing we did today,” added another AC Milan supporter.
Edin Džeko opened the scoring in the 8th minute and Henrik Mkhitaryan added a second goal three minutes later. And after a while, the match could have been almost over, but Hakan Calhanoglu hit the bar.
AC Milan didn’t do much until Sandro Tonali hit the bar towards the end. They’ll have a tough rematch in a week if they want to see out the Champions League final for the first time since 2005.
