It’s officially confirmed, Álvaro Morata is returning to Italy. The captain of the European champions from this year’s Euros has already been there, twice.
The thirty-one-year-old striker made his first appearance in Serie A in the 2014/15 season when he transferred from Real Madrid to Juventus.
He lasted there for two years before Real Madrid bought him again in July 2016, only to sell him to Chelsea a year later. However, Morata did not perform to his liking at Stamford Bridge and after a loan spell at Atlético, he moved to the club in 2020.
In September that year, he went on loan to Juventus, then returned to Atlético, where he has stayed until now. It must be added that his last two seasons in Spain have been quite successful in terms of playing performance.
He scored 15 goals in the 2022/23 season and closed last season with 21 goals. Now Morata has another challenge ahead of him, even though he is almost returning to familiar Italian surroundings. Although yes, this time he has decided to link his future with another big club.
Morata to AC Milan
AC Milan, in fact, confirmed on Friday afternoon what was already openly discussed during the European championship in Germany. Morata has definitively become a player of AC, to whom he has signed until the end of June 2028 with the option to extend for another year.
The captain of the current European champions definitely still has a lot to offer, the EURO was also very good in terms of performance. The Rossoneri sent €13 million to Madrid for him when he activated his exit clause.
Morata is supposed to be a replacement for the experienced Olivier Giroud. The French national team’s historic top scorer left for Los Angeles FC after the end of last season. The Spanish marksman will wear the black and red jersey with the number 7.
