AC Milan and Inter Milan can look forward to a new stadium! What will be the capacity and what will it be called?

Just before 2022, a juicy piece of information has been leaked. Both AC Milan and Inter Milan, who are great rivals, and at the same time fighting for the title together, can look forward to a new stadium. Like the current San Siro, the new stadium will serve as the home ground for both Milanese teams.

The brand new stadium was designed by Popolous. This is the firm that built, for example, the stadium for Tottenham Hotspur. The luxury football stand should be built in the northern Italian city in 2027.

So the farewell to the current San Siro will still be relatively long. The replacement for the legendary stadium will be called the Cathedral. Which, of course, points to one of Milan’s main monuments.

The name could finally unite fans of both teams in how they pronounce the name of their home stadium. While AC Milan fans call San Siro their current home, Inter fans call the same stadium Giuseppe Meazza.

Now both camps will be visiting the Cathedral. The stadium will have a capacity of 65,000 fans and will offer a smaller capacity unlike the aging San Siro (80,000). On the other hand, the project looks really impressive and futuristic. Take a look for yourself!

The new football sanctuary will be built in basically the same location where San Siro is now located. As a reminder of the legendary stadium, the designers plan to leave one of the pillars of the San Siro in the form of a pedestal on the edge of the new site.
