Absolute disrespect to a legend! Barcelona announce the end of Xavi, he will be replaced by a Bayern legend. What do the fans say?

Fans of the Catalan giant must feel like they are on a seesaw. Until recently, the whole of Barcelona, including president Joan Laporta, rejoiced that Xavi had reversed his decision and would remain at the club. But now the tables have turned and there will be a change of coaches after the season. He will be replaced by a Bayern legend.

Barcelona and Xavi Hernández announced in January that after this season their collaboration will be terminated, even though the club legend still has a valid contract. So the Catalan giant began looking for a replacement, only to find none.

Explaining his move, the former outstanding midfielder admitted that he is struggling with huge pressure, limited opportunities. However, club president Joan Laporta hoped that the promising coach would rethink his move. And so he did.

At the end of April, Barcelona announced that Xavi will continue at the Catalan club next season. Laporta, the coach, and the fans were happy. Despite the difficult conditions, the 44-year-old strategist did more than solidly, put the club back on its feet, won the title, gave a chance to new young hopes.

But a few weeks later, the situation is completely different again. Xavi has in fact publicly stated that he cannot come from the club’s management and say he wants this player or that player. He revealed that he simply had to adapt to the situation, but he was resigned to that. And subsequently there was talk of Barcelona wanting to recall him.

Laporta was reportedly disappointed with Xavi’s attitude. The question was what to do next. Now it’s clear.

Barcelona will have a new coach. The fans are furious

Barcelona announced on the club website on Friday afternoon that Xavi will be leaving the club after the season. The legend has one last game ahead of him, the one he’s coaching on Sevilla soil. So, like Lionel Messi, he will not get a well-deserved and dignified farewell from the fans.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the former great midfielder will be replaced by Hansi Flick, who reached the treble with Bayern Munich. For the German coach, Barcelona was a dream engagement and he is to sign a contract until 2026.

But fans are biting hard on how the club has treated Xavi. “Shameful attitude towards a club legend. This is what Laporta is known for. First Messi, now this,” reads one of the most popular comments under the Catalan club’s announcement.

“You made him stay only to sack him a few weeks later. Absolute disrespect. Laporta has no shame for letting Messi and now Xavi go,” added another supporter.

There is a lot of similar opinion. Laporta is universally not defended by anyone. Fans hope Xavi will return to the club one day.
