Abdallah Sima transferred to Slavia in the summer of 2020 from Taborsko. Although he came as a reinforcement for the B-team, he soon became a sought-after commodity all over Europe. Brighton have been the most successful in the battle for the Senegalese, having already sent him on two loan spells. How is he doing at French side Angers?

Abdallah Sima bolstered Slavia’s attacking ranks in the summer of 2020 when he arrived from Tabor. It seemed that he would play primarily for the B-team, but due to health problems of some players, coach Jindřich Trpišovský called him up to the first league team.

Over time, it turned out to be a great choice. Abdallah Sima played 21 games in the Fortuna Liga, scoring eleven goals and assisting four more. He also had a big part in the promotion to the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

Many clubs became interested in the twenty-one-year-old offensive player. The most successful one was Brighton, who paid eight million euros for the Senegalese international, which is about 200 million in Czech crowns.

However, due to the great competition, he was subsequently sent on a one-year loan to second league Stoke. However, due to health problems, he played only two games in the Championship and made five more starts in the B-team.

Before the start of the current season Brighton sent him on another loan, this time to Angers in France. This is going better, at least in terms of playing time, as Sima has played 554 minutes so far in Ligue 1.

However, he is still waiting for his first goal, he doesn’t even have an assist to his name. Moreover, coach Gerald Baticle’s team is in last place with a negative 15:34 record and just eight points. Unless they improve their performance rapidly after the World Cup, they will be heavily involved in a rescue fight.

It will be very interesting to see if Abdallah Sima gets a chance at Brighton, currently the seventh team in the English Premier League, next summer. A change in coaching post could also help him, with Graham Potter replaced by Roberto De Zerbi.
