Arda Güler is undoubtedly one of the greatest talents in contemporary football. A year ago, Prague Slavia could see it for themselves when he played against them in the 16th Conference Europa League final. Now the Turkish footballer is heading to Real Madrid.
Slavia played Fenerbahce in the 16th Conference Europa League final in the 2021/22 season.
The first match was played in Turkey, with Slavia securing the win thanks to goals from Traore, Oscar and Lingro. Arda Güler did not get on the pitch until the 74th minute, but assisted the second goal for the Turkish side nine minutes later.
The return leg in Eden was scheduled for a week later. The hosts took advantage of a great start and were already leading 2:0 in the 27th minute. Güler came on in the 57th minute, a day before his 17th birthday, and thanks to his assist the visitors managed to reduce the score to 2:3 in the 90th minute.
The Turkish talent stood out on the pitch during the double match with Slavia, but did not get the necessary minutes. However, it was clear even then that Güler could go far. And so it happened.
Last season he played twenty games in the top Turkish competition, scoring four goals and assisting three more. His performances helped Fenerbahce to the final second place, thanks to which they will play in the upcoming year’s European Conference League preliminary round.
But that will be without Güler, who is completing his transfer to Real Madrid these days. He has been reported by, among others, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Real are expected to pay 20 million euros, and the contract will also include a clause for a 20% share of any resale.
The 18-year-old midfielder is expected to sign a six-year contract at the Santiago Bernabeu. Meanwhile, there have been several interested parties for the Ankara native’s services, including other major European clubs. Güler, however, chose Real Madrid.
