Lamine Yamal, Barcelona’s 16-year-old super talent, started in the starting line-up against Sevilla, for whom Sergio Ramos plays. The TalkFCB server recalled a nine-year-old video of Yamal as an enthusiastic child accompanying Ramos onto the pitch.
While Barcelona are doing quite well, having at least for a while topped the league table thanks to the win over Sevilla, ahead of Girona and Real Madrid, who will share the table on Saturday night, Ramos and co. are languishing in 12th place with 7 points.
However, both Yamal and Ramos started in the starting line-up and it must be added that it was already looking like a draw. However, in the 76th minute, the Barcelona superstar pounced on a cross into the penalty area and headed the ball into the Spanish midfielder, who scored an own goal.
The following memorable video is from 2016, when Yamal was just nine years old and still dreaming of professional football.
Meanwhile, the skilful left-back only peeked into the A-team this summer. However, he has played nine games so far, during which he has notched two assists, both against Villarreal. It was his assist to Robert Lewandowski in the 71st minute that helped Barcelona to three points.
Ansu Fati was a similarly great talent, but he is no longer with the Catalan side, having left for a one-year loan spell at Brighton this summer.
So hopefully Yamal won’t suffer the same fate, although it’s certainly still very early to make an assessment on Fati too, as we’re talking about a player who is only 19 and still has plenty of time to develop.
Moreover, Brighton is an excellent club for young talent, as evidenced by the annual departures of players from the English outfit, which amount to huge sums.
It is thus possible that we will one day see both Spanish talents in the same starting line-up both at Barcelona and in the Spanish national team, for which Fati, for example, has already made nine starts and Yamal two.
