It’s finally final – reigning champion Fabio Quartararo has signed a contract extension with the Monster Energy Yamaha GP team. However, it was not an easy move according to him, so what did the French pilot himself have to say about the new contract?

The current championship leader, Frenchman Quartararo, announced on the eve of the race weekend that he had decided to stay with the factory Yamaha team.

The deal was reportedly already signed a few weeks ago, however the team has only now made the official announcement.

Although Quartararo has made no secret in the past that he was likely to leave Yamaha and try his luck with another team, he is said to be happy at the moment in the Japanese stable and is happy to stay.

“As I said before, I need a good bike to fight for the title. And the guys in the team are working really hard to get what I want. At first they didn’t want to admit that our machine is really slow compared to the others, but now they know and we can continue to improve,” Quartararo said at the press conference.

The twenty-three-year-old French super-talent has signed with Yamaha until 2024! It’s a very important decision for the factory team – Quartararo won the world championship last year thanks to some amazing performances.

Thanks to him, Yamaha won the title among the riders again, specifically after six years, that is, since the days of Jorge Lorenzo. It should be noted that in the entire history of MotoGP, Quartararo is the first French rider to make it to the top.

And now he’s leading the championship again. Despite a poor start and problems with his bike, the reigning world champion is at the top of the riders’ championship, leading the entire MotoGP World Championship with an eight-point lead over second-placed Aleix Espargar.
