The Valencia Grand Prix ended the season of the MotoGP royal category and we must say that the end of the race in particular was certainly very moving for many fans. Not only Valentino Rossi, but also Danilo Petrucci and Iker Lecuona said goodbye to the Moto GP class. So how did the race, and indeed the season, turn out?

The last round of the 2021 season took place in Valencia, Spain. Francesco Bagnaia, on a Ducati motorcycle, takes the win in the final race of the season. Second went to Jorge Martin, third to Bagnaia’s teammate, Jack Miller.

The end of the race in particular was very moving, not only for Rossi fans, but for all fans of Moto GP and motorsport in general. With a career spanning 26 years, Rossi finally said goodbye to his career today, November 14.

Nine times World Champion, 115 wins, 234 podium finishes across all categories or one of only two riders to win the title with both a two-stroke and a four-stroke motorcycle.

We were also able to see the greatest personalities, and not just in the sport, pay tribute to him via a short video during the live broadcast. Actors such as Keanu Reeves and Chris Hemsworth, footballers Gianluigi Buffon and Andrea Pirlo or Formula 1 drivers Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen all agreed on one thing.

Rossi is not only a legend of Moto GP or motorsport as a whole, he is also one of the greatest personalities on the planet and an inspiration to the vast majority of us.

But his fans will see him again next year, but in a different role. From the 2022 season onwards, he will own his own team called Aramco VR46.

However, two more drivers have said goodbye to the royal cubature. Petrucci will try out the Dakar Rally in the winter and may then attempt a return to road bikes, while Lecuona will move to a factory Honda team, racing in the Superbikes category.

So how did the 2021 season end? Fabio Quartararo won the world championship among the riders, while the best team was the Ducati team. The prize for best non-factory rider goes to Johann Zarco, while Jorge Martin took the title of best rookie of the season.

Here are the final results of this season. The next one will start next March at the Losail circuit in Qatar. For now, there’s nothing to do but wish all Moto GP fans a peaceful break between seasons.
