A successful day for Czech tennis players at the Australian Open. We don’t have many domestic representatives at the tournament anymore, so Monday’s results put smiles on the faces of Czech fans.
Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova are one of the biggest favourites of the tournament and played a fairly even match with the American pair Collins/Krawczyk.
In the end, however, they managed to beat them in two sets 6::4 and 6::4, staying on the court for one hour and 26 minutes.
Krejcikova herself said in an interview on Sunday that she tries to be on the court for as short a time as possible, as she also plays singles and fatigue can be noticeable.
Lucie Hradecka also won her match as she and her partner Gonzalo Escobar defeated the Olmos/Arevalo pair.
The match also ended after two sets with 6::4 and 6::4. The Czech women’s pair will face Dolehida and Sanders, while the mixed pair will challenge Ninomiya and Qureshi.
