A slut: It wasn’t our game. A disallowed goal? I don’t know if it was right, but it took too long

West Ham only managed to draw with Brighton in Wednesday’s game, which is rather a loss after the game, because the visitors equalised only in the 90th minute. Vladimir Coufal returned to the Hammers’ starting line-up and was rather disappointed after the game.
Coufal was the cornerstone of West Ham’s line-up until he was injured in October. He had to miss the national team meeting and subsequently three games for the club.
In his place, young upstart Ben Johnson stepped in and did brilliantly. West Ham didn’t score four times in a row, Johnson then scored and didn’t let Coufal into the starting line-up.
However, in the weekend game against Manchester City, left back Aaron Cresswell was injured and Coufal went to the other side of the defence. In Wednesday’s game, the roles were reversed, with Johnson moving to left-back and Coufal starting on his traditional right side.
West Ham went in front in the fifth minute thanks to a header from Soucek, but then pulled back heavily and let Brighton play. At times, possession was as high as 80%-20% in favour of the Ducks.
“It was definitely not our game. I’m sure we can play better,” Coufal lamented to West Ham TV after the game.
In the second half, however, the Hammers struck again and scored a second goal. But Antonio’s seventh goal in the competition was subsequently taken away by VAR.
“We scored the second goal in the second half. I don’t know if it should have been disallowed or not, but I think the decision took too long. And at the end we got a very cheap goal. But to be honest, Maupay scissor-kicked it unbelievably, but we made it very easy for him,” Coufal was angry.
West Ham can’t dwell on their mistakes for long, however, as they must prepare for the next game immediately. On Saturday, they will welcome table leader Chelsea to their home stadium.
