Ivan Perisic was an absolutely key player for Croatia at the European Championship. He proved that with two goals and one assist. Now, however, his teammates will have to do without him, as he will be quarantined for ten days due to a positive coronavirus test.

Against the Czech national team, Perisic was the only goal scorer for the Croatians, providing his team with a crucial point that sent them into the eighth round thanks to their subsequent victory over Scotland.

And even in the aforementioned last decisive game, the Inter winger was a key figure for the Croatian national team, assisting the opening goal and securing the victory with his second goal of the tournament.

But now the coronavirus has found him, sending Perisic into isolation for ten days and coach Zlatko Dalic will have to quickly figure out how to get by without his best striker.

Croatia is far from the team it was at the World Cup three years ago. And now they are facing a very strong Spain, who have also not shown who knows what kind of football, but are still big favourites to reach the quarter-finals. All the more so now that Perisic is out of the picture.

But the Croatians are not the only ones who have already encountered the coronavirus during the championship. Denis Vavro (Slovakia) and Billy Gilmour (Scotland) have their own stories to tell.

The English pair of Ben Chilwell and Mason Mount, who came into contact with the aforementioned Gilmour, also had to be quarantined.

For the thirty-two-year-old Split native, the match against Scotland was most likely the last game he will play in this championship.

The chances of the Croatians reaching the quarter-finals were significantly reduced. On the other hand, it may help them just as much as the Danes, who advanced past Wales into the quarterfinals on Saturday, picked themselves up.
