Champions League
A sensation in Bern! It’s a big problem for Czech football
Manchester United surprisingly failed at the ground of Swiss champion Young Boys Bern. The outsider of the match played from the 35th minute against 10 and finally extracted all 3 points from the match. Football’s David defeated Goliath and wrote a beautiful story, but it’s a terrible result for Czech football.

If Slavia had got past Ferencváros in the 3rd round of the Champions League, they would have faced Young Boys in the final play-off for the millionaire competition. Every game is different, but with the form of the Swiss champion, the Susians would have had a really tough time.
They are a physically fit team with strong players who are complemented by skilful wingers. Moreover, they play their home games on a specific surface, namely on artificial grass accompanied by a fabulous backdrop.
The Manchester United players got a taste of that on Tuesday night. They may be a bit sorry for the long absence of one player, but they should at least have a shot on target against Young Boys. They didn’t! The Red Devils haven’t fired a shot since Wan-Bissako’s sending off and were more or less under pressure and awkwardly stalling all the time.
The fact that United hadn’t created even a hint of a chance since the 35th minute according to xG was lamented by nearly 17,000 people in less than a day. And why is this bad for Czech football? The Swiss are increasing their lead in the coefficient rankings.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær lost his 7th game out of 11 (to Manchester United) in the Champions League. This makes the total historically 13% of all club losses in this competition.
Solskjær’s charges produced only two shots in the entire match, their lowest shot total in 138 Champions League matches since the 2003/04 season.
