When Jiri Prochazka defeated Glover Teixeira, talk of a rematch immediately began. The Brazilian was better, but the Czech ended it in the end and made his dream come true.
Now the rematch is arranged, although it was expected that a different fight would be preferred. Prochazka had a meeting with promoter Dana White and he apparently gave him a free hand.
“I considered the winner of the Ankalaev vs Smith fight and Blachowicz, who I wanted to fight first and foremost, but in the end Glover came out the best.
After consulting with the team and making my own mind up, I decided that I just wanted to do this fight again because I believe I can show a better performance with a fighter like Glover. That’s why I made this decision,” Prochazka told iSport.
He chose Teixeira for one simple reason, he didn’t like the performance he gave. The Brazilian, on the other hand, certainly deserves a rematch because of what he did.
“That fight was 50-50, chaos. A win is a win, but in a fight at that level my parameters are somewhere else and I want to do it again according to them. He deserves it, I have that impression too. People want it, or it’s going to be a boom for them, so why not give it another go?” he added.
The choice of opponent didn’t sit well with Jan Blachowicz, who was already kind of counting on being chosen. However, the Pole will have to wait a little longer.
