Slavia will play the third round of the Conference Finals against Panathinaikos on Thursday night, starting at home in Eden. Jindřich Trpišovský was troubled by an injury to Yira Sor, a key striker for Europe. Who will he put on the bench?
In goal, there seems to be nothing to worry about, with Aleš Mandous the clear leader at the start of the season, having played all three competitive matches. Ondřej Kolář remains on the bench for the time being.
Oscar Dorley will be on the left side for sure, David Jurasek is not on the roster for the third round of the Conference playoffs. On the other side will be David Doudere, who has solidified his spot with his performance.
The stopper pairing is clear, Aiham Ousou will start alongside Eduardo Santos, this duo played together against St.Joseph’s and Hradec, only in the home rematch with Gibraltar they were rested.
There are several ways Trpišovský can assemble the midfield. Against Hradec, he relied on a trio of defensive midfielders, Holeš – Tiéhi – Traoré, for which he received quite a lot of criticism from the fans. So it is expected that at least one more offensive player, most likely Lukas Provod, will get into the game against Panathinaikos.
Ewerton will start on the left wing, as well as Moses Usor on the other side. There is a question mark at the top of the attack, where Yira Sor would normally start, but he is plagued by injury.
“The only thing we’re discussing is the spearhead formation, which is affected by Yira Sor’s injury. We don’t know what will happen with him on Thursday. We have two options also for the reason that he should be a player who is capable of handling the tasks that will be in that match regarding the opponent’s typology. For example, to be able to keep the ball up, to threaten the opponent’s goal, to be able to navigate well in the penalty area and to help us with our attack,” said Trpišovský at the press conference.
So what are Trpišovský’s options? Words about keeping the ball with his back to goal point to Václav Jurecka, and help with attacking points to Stanislav Tecl. Theoretically, the choice could also fall on Ivan Schranz, who played the role of attacking forward perfectly, for example last year with Union in Berlin.
Probable line-up of Slavia::
Mandous
Douděra – Santos – Ousou – Oscar
Holeš – Provod
Usor – Traoré – Ewerton
Jurečka
Trpišovský will have Ondřej Lingr, Ivan Schranz, Peter Olayinka or Stanislav Tecl ready on the bench.
