A power outage, a quarter-hour setup and a loss to an underdog. How did Wilshere’s debut in Denmark look like?
For the first time since May last year, he made his debut in his new team, Aarhus, Denmark. It was a very interesting game, but Wilsher’s good feeling from the first game was spoiled by the taste of defeat.
For the first time since May last year, he made his debut in his new team, Aarhus, Denmark. It was a very interesting game, but Wilsher’s good feeling from the first game was spoiled by the taste of defeat.
Wilshere only signed with Aarhus last Sunday, but thanks to having trained with Arsenal in recent months, he was, in his own words, well prepared.
So he was already on the bench of his new club on Friday, ready to hit the ground running against Velje.
Aarhus needed to win on the pitch of the last team in the table to increase their chances of finishing in the top 6, which ensures participation in the group title race.
And the situation went well at the start, with the visitors going ahead twice in the first half. However, they didn’t hold on to it once and went into the booths with a 2:2 scoreline.
The start of the second half was disrupted by a power outage and the game was suspended. However, after long minutes everything was fine and the players were called back on the field.
Wilshere’s moment came in the 90th minute, but due to the interruption he had a 16-minute setup. In it he gave a pretty decent performance.
He was in charge of standard situations, he even got a shot off, but it was blocked. In the 10th minute of the setup, however, his team cashed in and could not answer.
With the win, Velje have climbed off the bottom of the table, while Aarhus on the other hand remain seventh, 4 points clear of the group title. Wilshere and his teammates have only 3 games left to make it through.
