Wolves and Leeds are not at their best this season. Both teams have a good number of losses and have a lot to do to avoid relegation. Their game against each other was therefore very important in terms of points.
Both teams were in almost identical form before the clash and Leeds were slightly worse off in the table. They needed to win at all costs. And they did. They moved up to 14th position and are now a point behind 13th placed Wolves.
The game offered a very attractive and goal-scoring spectacle. The fans at Molineux Stadium saw as many as six goals scored, but most people in the stands celebrated only twice as the visitors won 4: 2.
Jack Harrison put Leeds ahead in the 6th minute, Luke Ayling scored early in the second half and in the 62nd minute it was 3:0 to the visitors when Rasmus Kristensen scored.
But Wolves didn’t give up. They even made the end of the game dramatic and it all started with Jonny Otto, who scored from a volley. His goal will undoubtedly be nominated for the goal of the month award.
Wolves’ second goal came eight minutes later from Matheus Cunha, only for Jonny, the scorer of the home side’s first goal, to waste a turnaround effort in the 84th minute by getting himself sent off. Rodrigo then scored Leeds’ fourth goal in stoppage time and it was all over.
To make matters worse for Wolves, Matheus Nunes was shown a red card for unsporting behaviour on and off the pitch in the set-up.
