Barcelona are slowly preparing for the departure of their captain Sergio Busquets and, according to ESPN, have even chosen his replacement. It should be midfielder Rúben Neves from Wolves. What does Barcelona offer for the Portuguese?
Although the transfer window is currently closed in most European competitions, some teams are slowly looking for new signings. One of them is Barcelona, who are preparing for the departure of captain Busquets.
According to ESPN, the Catalan outfit has identified the aforementioned Neves from Wolves as its primary transfer target. However, the Portuguese is the captain of the English side and it would definitely not be a cheap purchase.
Moreover, Neves is under contract until the end of 2024 and Wolves are already preparing to negotiate a new contract with the player. However, they are aware of the interest from Barcelona and other big clubs as well and in case of disagreements over the terms of the contract, they are ready to let the player leave.
The value of the Portuguese midfielder is estimated at £50 million, which could be a problem for the Spanish outfit, given their financial problems.
That is why the representatives of the Catalan club are preparing an offer in the form of a player swap for Neves. Up to two young players could move to Wolves.
Neves has been performing well for a long time and other teams will be interested in his services. This season he is clearly the best player of the team, which is not doing well at all and is currently in 18th place with 6 points.
This has already cost the job of coach Bruno Lage, who has to pack his bags after Saturday’s defeat to West Ham.
