The well-known Spanish journalist Gerard Romero has come up with a huge news in the last few hours. According to him, Lionel Messi is currently closer to not renewing his contract at PSG. But can we believe this report?
Gerard Romero is a Spanish journalist who primarily focuses on transfer happenings regarding Barcelona. He uses the most common social networks such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook or the streaming platform Twtich to publish his news and speculations.
Lionel Messi has a contract with PSG until the end of the current season. The Argentine was supposed to decide his future after the World Cup, but there seemed to be no indication that he would leave the French capital.
According to earlier reports from earlier this year, which were also confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, Messi has reached a verbal agreement with PSG to extend his contract for another year. It was all supposed to be a matter of days.
A huge reversal?
Gerard Romero dropped a real press bombshell today. The situation has changed and Lionel Messi is supposed to be closer to not renewing his contract and leaving PSG at the end of the current season.
The journalist immediately informed the public that this obviously does not mean the return of the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner to Camp Nou.
Barcelona’s president, Joan Laporta, had previously ruled out Messi’s return and this was due to financial compliance. Romero, however, with the announcement of the news, stated that if there is even a 1% chance, Barcelona will do everything to bring him back.
Another journalist, Veronica Brunati, who is close to people on Lionel Messi’s board, said that Laporta never called the Argentine and that part of Barcelona’s management is not in favor of his return.
“Lionel Messi is a world champion and wants to be happy. Anything can happen. Who knows, “ the journalist said.
The whole football world will surely be watching the events regarding Lionel Messi closely and it is clear that speculations will be abundant after today. Only the coming months will show us where Messi is headed.
