A huge paradox! Russian neo-Nazi MMA fighter receives award for denazification of Ukraine
Russia’s war in Ukraine continues unabated. We are constantly amazed by the horrors that the soldiers there are capable of carrying out. Russia’s war in Ukraine continues unabated. We are constantly amazed by the horrors that the soldiers there are capable of carrying out. However, there are also paradoxes, one of which is the case with the fighter Mikhail Turkanov. The neo-Nazi was given an order for helping to denationalise Ukraine according to Russia…
Thirty-five-year-old Russian MMA fighter Mikhail Turkanov doesn’t exactly shine in the cage. His fight streak is nearly even and if it weren’t for a new scandal, few in our neck of the woods would know him.
However, Turkanov has recently witnessed a huge paradox. He has Nazi tattoos all over his body, specifically swastikas, black suns, a Celtic cross and the number 88.
It is therefore not surprising that he is a fairly die-hard neo-Nazi, and his history is quite linked to far-right extremism.
He has supported his country in a war that is supposedly to help denationalise Ukraine. Thus the complete opposite of what he himself professes. And for this contribution he has received an award that he is probably not too happy about.
He was awarded the Order of Courage, precisely for seeking the denationalisation of a neighbouring country. This fact was pointed out by the Ukrainian journalist Denis Kazansky, who could not stop shaking his head at this nonsense.
After all, Turkanov had been sanctioned in Russia for Nazi symbols in the past, which is why he now claims that only medieval symbols are on his body, and that even the most notorious dictator used them by accident.
“It all comes from ignorance. The fact that Hitler used an ancient symbol means nothing,” he told Match TV in the past.
The question is why Russia decided to bestow such a man with an award that should carry some weight. Of course, we probably can’t be too surprised.
