A hard bomb, a headbutt and a successful choke! Maddalena showed he’s not just a flashy starlet. This is how he destroyed Brown
The Australian crowd saw several local fighters at UFC 284. One of the biggest stars there is Jack Della Maddalena, who has been in the UFC for a relatively short time, but is doing exceedingly well. And he confirmed it at the gala in Perth.
The Australian crowd saw several local fighters at UFC 284. One of the biggest stars there is Jack Della Maddalena, who has been in the UFC for a relatively short time, but is doing exceedingly well. And he confirmed it at the gala in Perth.
When Jack Della Maddalena started his professional career, things didn’t look good. He lost his first two fights. But since then, it’s been a phenomenal run on his part that has taken him all the way to the UFC, the best organization on the planet.
In September 2021, he participated in Dana White’s Contender Series and came through successfully. Since then, he has had four fights in the organization, all wins and all in the first round.
Additionally, he has never once made it to the fourth minute in the UFC. Not even with Randy Brown in Perth. Brown, meanwhile, was rolling into Maddalena before the gala. He called him a shining star.
And now he may well regret it. Brown may not be a star, but he’s still 16-5. And he clearly relied on his leg length and his much larger arm span in his match with the Australian.
It took Maddalen a while to read the distance. But once he pushed Brown to the wire, it was the beginning of the end. He missed the first punch, but then he aimed accurately and Brown even fell on his head.
The badly shaken American on the ground didn’t really know what was going on, and he took great advantage of that, managing to finish Maddalena on a rear-naked choke.
Maddalena thus showed that he is no flashy starlet, but an interesting prospect. At 26 years old, his best is yet to come. Moreover, of his 14 wins, he has only taken one on points, otherwise he has won 11 times by KO/TKO and twice by submission.
