A grand return? Luka Modric gets tempting offer, could emulate another famous countryman
Luka Modric is an undisputed legend not only of Real Madrid, but of world football. Even at the age of 38, he is still delivering phenomenal performances. But the Spanish club is understandably already giving more space to the younger ones. That’s why the Croatian playmaker will be making a change this summer. Where will he go?
Luka Modric is an undisputed legend not only of Real Madrid, but of world football. Even at the age of 38, he still gives phenomenal performances. But the Spanish club is understandably already giving more space to the younger ones. That’s why the Croatian playmaker will be making a change this summer. Where will he go?
He has started 28 games this season, but most of them have not been in the starting line-up. While Luka Modric hasn’t lost anything in his performance, it’s understandable that Real Madrid no longer want to rely on their younger stars who have huge potential.
Understandably, the 2018 Ballon d’Or winner isn’t exactly thrilled with the time the Croatian midfielder is spending on the pitch. On the other hand, he has all the more time to decide what his next move will be.
After all, the star midfielder is expected to leave the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer after 12 long years. But what will happen to him next is unknown. One thing is certain. He will have no shortage of offers. He doesn’t have that now.
Modric has been linked with a possible move to Saudi Arabia for several months now, there has been speculation about him being on the same team as Lionel Messi, and he has had several offers on the table from the American MLS. But now there is another possibility in play.
Will Luka Modric emulate another famous Croatian?
Luka Modric can still play at the highest level. Anywhere outside of Real Madrid he will most likely have a place in the lineup more or less guaranteed. That’s why it wouldn’t be surprising if he wants to continue to confirm his sporting qualities in Europe.
According to the Croatian newspaper 24 Sata, a very interesting offer has been made to him. Dinamo Zagreb, of which he is a product, is interested in his return. The president of the club, Mirko Barisic, has already made him a proposal.
He left Dinamo for Tottenham in 2008. Four years later, he joined Real Madrid. The legendary midfielder has more than enough time to decide. It is not impossible that he will make his final verdict after the European Championship, which will be held in Germany this summer.
However, if Luka Modric were to strengthen the Zagreb side, the Croatian league would gain another big name. He would replace another famous compatriot, Ivan Perisic, who signed for rival Hajduk Split.
