Viktoria Plzeň lose 1:5 at the Camp Nou in the group stage of the Champions League. Robert Lewandowski shone with a hat-trick, while Ousmane Dembélé troubled the Westerners on the wing.
Barcelona’s first chance came in the fifth minute, but Jindřich Staněk managed to clear the signal after a direct kick. In the 11th minute, Robert Lewandowski had a shot, but his attempt was blocked by the visitors’ defence.
Two minutes later, Franck Kessié headed home after a corner kick. In the 17th minute, Ansu Fati tried from outside the box, but missed the far post by a couple of numbers. Viktoria threatened on the break and after one of them Jhon Mosquera was fouled in the penalty area.
The referee pointed to the spot and drew a red card, but after watching the replay he changed his mind and whistled Mosquera for an offensive foul. And so the home side were on the rampage again, in the 34th minute Lewandowski fired from the edge of the box, Stanek had no chance.
Five minutes later it could have been three goals, but Pedri’s shot was cleared off the line by Václav Jemelka. And the home team’s talent regretted it. In the 44th minute, Jemelka found Jan Sýkora, whose header reduced the score to 1:2.
But before half-time it was two up again. Mosquera lost the ball unnecessarily and Lewandowski made no mistake after Ousmane Dembélé’s centre. The score was 1:3.
After the change of sides, the Catalans continued to dominate the ball, but they were not so much on the end line. On the other hand, Tomas Chorý had a great chance in the 65th minute, but he slipped over. And so Lewandowski punished, completing his hat-trick in the 68th minute.
And two minutes later, Dembélé lobbed Ferran Torres, who scored from a volley. The end did not offer any more chances, so Pilsen left Barcelona with five goals, but mainly with one honorable goal scored.
