Manchester United stopper Maja Lindelöf’s wife Maja Lindelöf today took to her Instagram to detail the assault that took place while her husband was struggling in the Red Devils’ starting line-up at Brentford (1::3).
“Thieves broke into our house in Manchester during Viktor’s game on Wednesday night. I was home alone with the kids at the time, but we managed to hide and lock ourselves in our room before the thieves got in,” the Swedish defender’s wife wrote on her profile.
“We are fine as far as possible, but it was a very psychologically difficult and frightening experience for me and my children,” Maja Lindelöf continued in her post.
” Now we are all in Sweden spending time with our families.”
“We urge anyone with information about this crime to contact the police.” The club also expressed its support for Lindelöf’s family.
The Swedish defender will miss United’s next Premier League game at Old Trafford, when they welcome the West Ham Ham Hammers.
“He told me what had happened and that it was really very difficult mentally, especially for his wife and three-year-old son. He wants to stay at home with his family. We have agreed that he will get today and tomorrow off,” current Red Devils coach Ralf Rangnick was quoted as saying.
It is the second time in a short time that an English league player has been mugged. Late last year, robbers held up Joao Cancela and his family at their home. The Portuguese footballer, who plays for Manchester City, suffered several cuts to his face in the scuffle.
