A dramatic quarter-final between Real and Chelsea. Karim Benzema decides to advance

London’s Chelsea arrived at the Santiago Bernabéu with a two-goal deficit from their first game, which was dominated by French sharpshooter Karim Benzema, who scored all of his team’s goals.

It was very important for the visitors to score the first contact goal as soon as possible to keep the London side in the relegation race. It was clear from the first minutes that Real Madrid would rely on the opponent’s mistakes and subsequent breakaways.

Chelsea managed to achieve the goal they entered the match with. In the 15th minute, after a great combination through the middle, midfielder Mason Mount got behind goalkeeper Courtois – 0:1.

After that, Real also got into the game, with Karim Benzema, the hero of the first match, creating the biggest opportunity. But his cross shot ended up over the crossbar of Mendy’s goal.

A very good first half. Chelsea were able to close the gap on Real and played some good football. Real tried to threaten from breakaway situations, but they didn’t go the way manager Carlo Ancelotti wanted.

Right at the start of the second half came a shock for Real fans. Chelsea dominated the ball from the start and their efforts paid off. From a corner kick, Antonio Rüdiger was the highest in the air and his header was precisely aimed at the bar – 0:2.

Two chances followed for the White Ballet. Firstly, Toni Kroos tried to beat Mendy from a direct kick and then Karim Benzema just grazed the crossbar.

Thomas Tuchel’s team deservedly took the lead in the 75th minute. Timo Werner found the ball after a short clash, and he took the ball off two Real defenders and shot a hard shot past Courtois – 0:3.

Chelsea were able to seal the deal in the 78th minute when one of the London club’s players got a header. But Courtois made a great save. You don’t give, you get was true in the next moment.

The visitors tried in vain to do something else with the result. In the last minute of extra time, Jorginho had a great chance, but missed miserably.

Real Madrid calmly saw out the extra time and, despite the fact that Chelsea won, advanced to the semi-finals of the Champions League. Its opponents will be the winner of the match between Atlético Madrid and Manchester City.
