There are many curious situations in the tennis world. But this one will surely go down as one of the most bizarre among fans.

The serve produced by American Maxime Cressy instantly went around the world. The first round match at Indian Wells pitted two compatriots against each other.

They were Maxime Cressy and Christopher Eubanks. Both players, like most Americans, pride themselves on good serve.

In a three-set battle, the lower-ranked Eubanks finally prevailed after sets of 5-7, 7-6 and 6-4. However, the match was particularly interesting because of a very curious moment on Cressy’s serve.

The latter gave a rotation of the racket frame on his serve to the ball, which led to the botched serve going to the other side of the court and landing just outside the net, leaving Eubanks with no chance.

Everyone was very confused by this moment. The serve was only 41.8 km/h.
