A child’s dream come true! All 3 Hughes brothers will play in the same game for the first time in the NHL when the Devils take on the Canucks
As a kid, playing together in the basement, they dreamed of making it to the famous NHL. That dream seems to be coming true as the Hughes family will become only the ninth family in history to have three brothers play in the same game on Tuesday. The last such regular season instance happened on April 13, when the Staal brothers (Eric and Marc, Florida Panthers; Jordan, Carolina Hurricanes) played in the same game.

It certainly raised a wave of questions and this fairy tale scenario gained momentum. Brothers Jack and Quinn are icons of their respective teams. The youngest, Luke, is in his early days and much is expected of him as well. Ahead of their clash, which will pit Jack and Luke in New Jersey Devils colours against brother Quinn from Vancouver, they had their say.
“Of course you dream of one day playing with your brothers in the NHL, ” Jack Hughes said in an interview with the NHL, before continuing, ” You’re in the basement, you’re hanging out, you’re playing, but you never think it’s going to become a reality.”
“I definitely didn’t expect something like this to happen, but it’s really great, ” Luke said, adding. It’s going to be fun.”
“Of course, it’s a dream come true. It’s going to be different tonight, everybody’s going to focus on their game,” said Quinn, who is 24, 19 months older than Jack, 22, who is 28 months older than Luke, 20.
The positions of Quinn, Jack and Luke Hughes
The oldest of the brothers, Quinn has grown into a leader and star in Vancouver, wearing the captain’s C on his jersey. He has an admirable record this year. With 9 goals, he is the best among defensemen and is also in the top 5 in scoring so far.
Jack missed 5 games last month due to an upper body injury. However, he is first in the NHL in points per game average (1.76) and tied for ninth in assists (21) and eighth in points (30). Luke is second among rookies with 14 points (3 goals and 11 assists).
Each of them is unique, have admirable stats and are among the mainstays of their teams. They prove their uniqueness and the stats and performances speak for them. Quinn and Jack are already real NHL stars, each of them played in the All-Star Game.
Their story is remarkable from the start, as never before has an American family had three brothers selected in the first round of the NHL draft. Their friend Zach Werinski from Columbus, who trains with them every year, had nothing but words of admiration for the players themselves.
Their parents, Ellen and Jim, will also be watching the game from the stands. It will be a special night for them and of course something amazing.
