The October national team block will feature matches between the Czech Republic and Wales and Belarus. Only one newcomer has been invited – Jan Kuchta. But he is not the only one who can fight for a better position in Jindřich Trpišovský’s ranking.

Aleš Matějů

It is very likely that Aleš Matějů will get a chance in at least one game. The Brescia defender can play on both edges of the defence, where the first choices dropped out. If he contributes to the win over Wales and the second place finish, he may finally earn a more solid spot.

Filip Novak

Ignored by Jaroslav Šilhavy for a while, he has played just two national team games in the last year, but it has to be said, rightly so. Filip Novák didn’t play in Fenerbahce and Jan Bořil gave reliable performances in the jersey of Slavia.

However, the situation has changed a lot in the last few months, Bořil is struggling and currently injured, while Novák is getting more and more space and playing in the Europa League.

With Matějů being counted on primarily at right-back, the former Sparta defender seems to be the first choice for the October meeting.

Jan Kuchta

When a player is called up to the national team for the first time, he can’t expect a big chunk of minutes on the pitch. But Kuchta could get a chance (at least against Belarus). He has caught the shooting bug in Slavia after a slow start and is the league’s third-leading scorer.

In the absence of a few wingers, he can be a surprise there too, and against Belarus a more offensive formation with two forwards is suggested. Matej Vydra is also struggling, so Kuchta could be essentially the second choice behind Patrik Schick.

Jakub Pesek

The last game, which is crucial for his future, was a great one. He didn’t score a goal, but he solidified his place in the team. If he builds on this, he will become a national team stalwart. Currently, however, he is missing competitors Lukáš Provod, Lukáš Masopust, Petr Ševčík and Jakub Jankto, and everything is simply going against Pešek.

Michal Sadílek

Tomáš Holeš is slightly injured and would probably fill in in defence anyway, Alex Král is not playing for West Ham, a chance for the “skinny” captain of the last generation of the national team. Michal Sadilek is waiting for a bigger opportunity, at least in the second game he could get a chance.
