The Turin club is likely to officially confirm the departure of their mainstay, stopper Gleison Bremer, in the next few days. The club’s management has agreed to sell him to their biggest rival – Juventus Torino. However, what does this mean for David Zima?
The 25-year-old central defender was one of the best stoppers in the Italian Serie A last season and it was likely that he would head elsewhere in the summer transfer window.
Inter Milan were very interested in Bremer, this potential transfer was almost a sure thing according to Football Italia. In the end, however, it looks like Juventus will take advantage of Inter’s slight hesitation and the Milan club will overpay in their chase for Bremer.
Moreover, Torino’s management has already agreed to sell Bremer to Juventus, the city rival, which, of course, the fans of the less famous Turin club cannot stomach.
Fans have criticised the club’s management especially on Instagram, the Brazilian defender even changed his account settings so that no more comments are directed at him. At the moment, it looks like the player is undergoing a medical and Juventus will send around 40 million euros to their rival. Turin can then collect another seven in bonuses.
Bremer transferred to Torino in July 2018 from Brazilian Atlético Mineria, for just under six million euros. The Italian team, which finished tenth in Serie A last season, will thus be in a significant plus in relation to Bremer’s transfer.
Will Zima make it into the starting line-up?
But one thing is important for Czech fans. Midfielder David Zima, who moved to Torino at the end of August last year, could get more opportunities.
The twenty-one-year-old native of Olomouc started 20 league games last season, but from mid-February to mid-May, when Serie A ended its 2021/22 season, Zima started only six games and sat on the bench for eight more.
Moreover, he played full minutes only three times out of those six games. So the question remains whether Torino will bring in a new stopper or whether Zima will get more opportunities, as he did especially in the first half of the season. So will Zima be able to establish himself in the starting line-up?
