The Czech national football team failed to win their match against Sweden and after losing 0:1 after extra time they were eliminated from the World Cup barrier in Qatar. The only goal was scored in the 110th minute by substitute Robin Quaison.
Alexander Isak had the first chance of the match in the sixth minute, but his shot from a volley missed the target. Five minutes later Jan Kuchta got the ball in the net, but his goal was disallowed due to offside.
In the 18th minute, Adam Hložek tried to score from a volley, but his attempt only hit the gloves of the home goalkeeper. The Czechs played actively and in the 28th minute Jan Kuchta played a great chance to Hložek, but the Swedish defence intervened at the last moment.
Moments before the break, Emil Forsberg shot from the edge of the area, but missed the back post by a whisker. The Czech players went into the booths with a goalless draw, but the coaching staff was satisfied with their performance.
Even after the change of sides, the Czechs were confident, but the endgame was creaking. Kuchta operated very well at the tip of the attack, who was constantly pressing and causing problems for the Swedish defenders.
They waited until the 78th minute for a real chance, when Mattias Svanberg’s header was caught by Tomas Vaclik. Just after that Kuchta got free on the other side but missed with his left foot. The biggest chance of the match was scored by Milan Havel in the setup, he missed the goal from a volley.
In the overtime, they waited until the 110th minute for an opportunity and it was a goal situation right away. Robin Quaison finished off a good team effort. Nothing more happened and after the 0:1 loss the Czechs will not go to the World Cup in Qatar.
