A black day at Roland Garros! Most of the Czech representatives are already out of the game. The last hope is Karolína Muchová
Nosková, Kvitová, Bouzkova, Krejčíková, Plíšková, Siniaková and Martincová have already dropped out of the tournament. From the men Lehečka and Veselý. From the wide starting field, only one Czech, Karolína Muchová, survives in the competition. The doubles line-up offers no better prospects.

The Czech Republic has traditionally had a very strong representation in the opening round of the clay grand slam. However, it didn’t go very well from the start and already the 1st round meant a stop for several players, including the heavily favoured ones.
The defending champion, Barbora Krejcikova, brought the biggest shock to the fans with her early exit.
If not the 1st round, the second round was the final. And that was for Katerina Siniakova, Petra Kvitova and Karolina Pliskova. Marie Bouzkova didn’t play at all.
The “crown” was put on today. Disasters started first thing in the morning when Barbora Krejcikova didn’t play in the opening round of doubles alongside Katerina Siniakova due to a cavity. As the top seeds and defending champions, they had only the highest ambitions. As in the singles, Marie Bouzkova could not play her match in the doubles, also due to a covid.
Tereza Martincova also dropped out of the doubles today just before 3 pm. In the first singles match of the day, Karolina Pliskova was swept off the court. After 2x 6::2 sets, Jeanjean, who is a member of the world rankings No. 3, enjoyed the progress.
Everything was topped off by the elimination of the last man in the singles, Zdeněk Kolář, who could not keep up with the favoured Tsitsipas. He fought hard, but he was not enough for the world number 4 and left the match with 1 set.
Today definitely cannot be considered a successful day. In doubles, only Lucie Hradecka remains among the Czech representatives. In singles, Karolína Muchová. Let’s hope that at least they will manage to record success and go as far as possible!
