A big scare during a duel in the UFC! American fighter blinded in one eye, apologizes for loss and disappointing fans
UFC 289 offered three women’s bouts. Neither of them was boring, but one of them was a big concern. Miranda Maverick took on Jasmine Jasudavicius and went into the fight as the favorite, however, she lost and had a much bigger issue to deal with besides the result.

Miranda Maverick is one of the exciting prospects in women’s MMA. At 25 years old, she has a fairly decent upside, she was a top 15 UFC flyweight until this weekend, however she will drop out of the top 15.
While she was the favorite in her duel with Jasmine Jasudavicius, she was the underdog in all aspects in the three round bout. It was expected that especially on the ground she would have the upper hand against the Canadian native, but nope.
Jasudavicius was well prepared and dominated in her stance and on the ground. However, after the fight, Maverick revealed that she had faced a huge adversity in the fight and that she was plagued by a lot of fear. Not surprisingly.
“Some things are scarier than fighting. One of them is going blind. Istarted to see my left eye blurry at the end of the second round, during the third round I went completely blind in it,” the American beauty announced on Instagram.
“Now my eyesight is mostly back, I’m meeting with a specialist next week and will have a retinal exam. I admit I was very scared during that part of the duel. However, I take responsibility for my ups and downs. It wasn’t my night, my opponent was great, she took advantage of all my mistakes. Congratulations to her, she deserves respect,” said Maverick.
Among other things, the talented fighter apologized to everyone she let down, while thanking everyone who kept believing in her during the failed 15 minutes. She intends to come back and be stronger.
She currently has a record of 11-5, and has won four of her seven fights in the UFC so far. She is coming off a two-fight losing streak to Jasudavicius.
