A bad tournament for the Czechs in Guadalajara, Mexico. Pliskova has been struggling since the US Open, Kvitova finishes with a canary and another unlucky draw
Kvitova’s failure in Mexico lost her the chance to fight for her eighth appearance in the championship tournament. For the fourth tournament in a row, Pliskova was no further than the second round. Seven Czech players took part in the singles part of the WTA1000 tournament in Mexico. Only three advanced to the second round.

Kateřina Siniaková, despite the opposite paper expectations, after a good performance deservedly advanced over Haddad Maiaová after sets 5::7 and 2::6.
Petra Kvitová also eliminated her opponent with a very similar result. She defeated the American Pera 3: 6 and 5: 7.
One Czech had a sure place in the second round before the first round match. Marie Bouzkova and Tereza Martincova faced each other. Bouzkova won the match 6: 2 and 7: 5.
That’s all from the procedures. One of the most surprising results was achieved by Barbora Krejcikova, who lost 3::6 and 4::6 to Russian Kalinskaya. The Czech was the clear favourite and the tournament’s number nine.
Linda Fruhvirtova also faced a quality opponent. She was unable to cope with the well-playing Sloane Stephenson, who clearly defeated the Czech qualifier 6: 0 and 6: 2.
Karolina Pliskova had a rather unlucky and difficult draw for the first round. Rybakinova from Kazakhstan was waiting for her, while Pliskova is looking for form in vain. The Mexican event is the fourth tournament in a row where the Czech Ace Queen has not made it past the second round. Here she finished in the opening round after 6:7 and 2:6 sets.
Kvitova was the only Czech representative to play the second round, where she took the opening set against Andreescu. Of the next 14 games played, only 2 went to the Czech lioness. In the second and third sets Kvitova could not hold her serve even once. In the end it was a rather shameful loss 6::3, 2::6 and 0::6.
Siniakova, on the other hand, has another duel ahead of her. She will challenge the Italian Trevisan today, 19 October at 19:30. Bouzkova should play her duel with Osorio of Colombia at midnight.
The tournament also features doubles. The Czech Republic is also represented here. The top seeds are Siniakova/Krejcikova. They will play their first game straight in the eighth round against Rosolska and Routliffe.
Linda Fruhvirtova and Estonian Kanepiova are also already in the eighth round. After a successful first round, the better pair from the Chanova/Hradecka-Kichenokova/Ostapenko match is looking to the second round.
Today at 20:00, Tereza Martincova will also play the first round of doubles alongside Marta Kostyukova. Their opponents will be the Krawczyk/Schuurs pair.
