Czech club football is crying! Millions will flow in, but it could have been much more. The biggest losses are calculated by Viktoria Plzeň, who earned only low millions in the preliminary rounds of the ECL. The champion Slavia, thanks to the bad luck that accompanied them throughout the European qualification, ends up in the weakest ECL. How does the public react to the results of Czech teams?

The Czech football public is certainly one of the harshest in Europe. The expectations of the football nation are always at their highest, yet the money pumped into domestic football is negligible compared to the rest of Europe.

You may point out that a poor club like Sheriff Tiraspol, for example, has made it all the way to the millionaire Champions League and yes, it does happen once in a while, but in the long run it is unsustainable.

To pull off such a feat you need the whole team in peak sporting form, you also need the whole squad pulling together and everyone’s health holding up. On top of that, you add sporting luck and other details.

In the end we will have 3 teams out of 5 possible in the group stage of European competitions. It’s not a fairy tale that could certainly come true. We were close to two teams in the EL and the ECL. But it’s not a total tragedy either!

In the coefficient table, rival Croatia has only one team in the group stage of European competitions. Sweden and Norway are in the same position. Switzerland, Serbia and Cyprus have two teams each. In the short term, our coefficient has taken a big hit, but if our teams perform in the basic groups, we can reach the coveted 15th place!

Public reaction to the failure of Plzeň and Slavia

“The bell has rung and the fairy tale of four Czech teams in the cups is over. And Plzeň is starting a horror without the coveted millions,” commented the editor of the Czech Television Pavel Jahoda on the end of the performance of the West Bohemian team.

Yes, several factors (injuries, missing Kudel, now red Holeš) affected Slavia’s run in the preliminary rounds, but even so, the failure to qualify for the LM and EL cannot be described as anything other than a failure. Terribly little for the Susians.”

“I didn’t think it was possible, but Viktoria got into such a shit that I feel sorry for them. No, I’m kidding. I wish them well,” said the football cynic, the Unbiased Journalist.

The attack from the famous cynic was not avoided by the Slavs, namely striker Stanislav Tecl. The experienced forward played very well all over the pitch but failed to capitalise on two great opportunities, which hurt in the final.

Especially some of the fans of the success took the elimination of Slavia very badly and the situation had to be calmed down by the boss Jaroslav Tvrdík himself.
