A 2-0 lead? Given the atmosphere that awaits us, it is tricky, sounds from Slavia before the rematch in Greece
Slavia defeated Panathinaikos 2:0 in their first match at home, showing a controlled performance in which they did not let their opponents do anything serious. In the rematch, however, the Greek hell that the local fans can create is to be reckoned with. What is the sound of the Prague team before the second duel?
Slavia defeated Panathinaikos 2:0 in their first match at home, showing a controlled performance in which they did not let their opponents do anything serious. The rematch, however, will feature the Greek hell that the local fans can create. What is the sound of the Prague team before the second duel?
The Prague team is fighting for a place in the European Conference League groups. To do that, it has three games to go. At the moment, Panathinaikos is still in the way, having failed to keep up with the Sechivans in the first match, losing 0:2.
On Tuesday evening, Slavia will fly to Athens for a rematch. They will have a hell of a game there. First of all, the temperature in the Greek capital should be around 35 °C at the time of the match. In addition, the Czech club will have to deal with the Greek fans.
“If someone had told us before the first match that we would be leading 2:0, we would have taken it with all ten hands. But it’s tricky, because we know what kind of atmosphere is waiting for us there. Wedefinitely want to keep a clean sheet,” assistant coach Zdeněk Houštecký told the club’s website.
The assistant to Jindrich Trpišovský believes that the longer Slavia keep the score at zero, the more the Greeks will press and the more chances they will have for quick breaks.
The Panathinaikos stadium can only hold 16,000 fans, but the Greeks showed their passion in their first match in Prague, where there were not nearly as many.
“Let’s not be fooled that it’s only 16,000. They are temperamental and when they unleash it, it’s hell. We mustn’t give them a chance on the pitch and therefore eliminate the crowd,” Houštecký is clear.
Just as Houstecki is aware of the quality of the Greek fans, so is Chris Tiéhi. He points out that Panathinaikos have been helped to win several games by their supporters.
What Slavia didn’t count on, however, are the absences of several players. Ewerton, Petr Ševčík and Moses Usor were injured in the match against Zlín. The last two will fly to Greece.
